Policy on Self-Disclosure
The Center's staff views professional growth as interrelated with personal growth. Therefore, interns are challenged to examine themselves and their worldviews as they develop as psychologists. Senior staff supervisors assist interns in exploring personal histories and qualities that impact clinical and other professional functioning. Interns are sometimes expected to disclose personal information in the service of growing and learning. Such disclosures will be done within the context of the supervisory relationship and with the focus on enhancing the intern's effectiveness. If an intern has any concerns about disclosing personal information, the senior staff supervisor is expected to work with the intern to resolve concerns and move forward in supervision.
