C.Patricia Hanley, Ph.D.
Associate Director- Training Director
Growing up on the coast in New York, Tricia always knew that she wanted to study psychology and live near the ocean. She began her formal studies and research at the State University of New York at Albany and received her B.A. degree in psychology, summa cum laude. At that time, she began a lifelong interest in women's issues and supervision. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the Ohio State University and completed training programs at the counseling centers at the Ohio State University and Colorado State University. She has published in the areas of eye-witness accuracy, conflict resolution and identity development. Tricia came to the UNH Counseling Center in 1988 and became the Director of Training in 1992. She has served as board member for several local and national professional organizations including the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA). She is a recipient of the New Hampshire Psychological Association's Margaret Riggs Award for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology.
Her clinical and supervisory work is strongly influenced by developmental and relational theories. Tricia is in awe of the human spirit and our ability to use relationships to grow and develop. She has a special interest in grief, resiliency, and holistic health practices. She has studied meditation and art therapy and uses these in her work.
Outside of work, Tricia enjoys working with clay, swimming and reading. One of her biggest joys is a day at the beach with her family.
